Is your hotel ready to deal with the earthquake?

Author: Category:Company News Views:1773

Are your management team and hotel ready in an emergency?

Earthquakes can be confusing and scary for most people, so having the right plans and tools to provide a safe method for your management, employees and guests is very important.

The Pengchu Hotel project, the hotel designer registered and participated in the "anti-drop, seal, hold" earthquake drills, and prepared their own "earthquake emergency kit" to update the staff's emergency procedures.

Are you and your hotel preparing for the earthquake? There are 4 preparation levels here:

Level 1 - Simple: Put down on the rig, cover and keep

The rig uses simple steps to inform individuals how to perform "falling", "covering" and "waiting" - designed to protect people from falling furniture and flying objects that may become projectiles shaking on the ground.

Level 2 - Foundation: Personal Safety Exercises

This exercise focuses on real-time safety and allows participants to think about emergency actions during an earthquake. Safety must be the number one priority, so carefully evaluate the environment inside and outside your facility before making a decision. Consider the factors that will affect your decision after the earthquake (your location, type of building, safety of hotel furniture, where the hotel is most likely to be damaged) (ie evacuation or stay). Suggest your team plan and practice.

Level 3 - Intermediate: Decision Desk Walkthrough

This decision-making exercise is designed to allow leaders to think about more complex issues related to operations after an earthquake.

* How to guide participants after shaking and after?

* Determine who has the authority to make and communicate decisions after the earthquake.

Invite key decision makers to participate in your exercise, then review and discuss what works or not, in order to make changes for the next exercise or actual earthquake.

Level 4 - Advanced: Operational Simulation Walkthrough

This operational exercise focuses on crisis team members who are trained and have emergency response and/or recovery responsibilities in their disaster plans. The exercises combine simulation events, decision making, response and life safety aspects.

* Create a timeline for your exercises and train all participants, backup staff, evaluators and decision makers.

* Separate from the schedule to create an "injection event" list. “Injection” is an unexpected event that may occur reasonably during an exercise (for example, aftershocks, specific problems related to your organization, etc.). These activities can be “injected” (or in the form of notes to participants, people who play roles in the exercises, etc.) during the exercise, allowing participants to think about problems and solutions without getting them into trouble. Then discuss what has been done or not done for the next earthquake or change in the exercise.
